Firstly there are tanning products specifically for your face – obviously applying fake tan on your face requires you to do your research, if you do not do this correctly, you cannot cover it with clothes!! Luckily we've done the research for you: Use a tanner specifically for the face. Tanners for the face are lighter and are different to body tanners – why? Because your face has different needs – simple. Obviously you can still use normal all over body tan but if you want to treat yourself, use a proper face tan. In the same way as when applying body tan, you need to apply the face tan on clean, exfoliated skin. Use a gentle exfoliant to prep your face (the day before tanning is better). Pull hair away from your face, brush your teeth before applying tan – as most toothpastes have bleaching products in them and will ruin your hard work if done after tanning. Apply Vaseline on your eyebrows to avoid tanning them too. Start blending the products carefully with a makeup sponge; remember this is not foundation you need to apply tanner over your ears, neck (even back of neck), all the way up to the hairline and down to the jaw line. Are you tanning your body too? If not make sure you keep blending the colour done to your chest as you might wear a shirt or a low cut top and you want the colour to be uniform. If you are not seeing a difference in colour right away – do not re-apply – tanning products take a few minutes, some up to an hour to see the colour – so apply once to avoid looking like an umpalumpa. * Stella’s Tip
