Stella Recommends...Your surroundings have a huge subconscious impact on your health, relationships, success and attitude. Feng shui involves the positioning of buildings as well as furniture and accessories to achieve a smooth flow of energy. By making, sometimes, subtle changes to the design of your space, you can positively influence your life. Feng shui may be an intricate practice however you can start with small steps and you will see benefits too. Feng Shui is all about creating balance and harmony here are some basic tips to start you off. Clear ClutterClutter blocks energy flow – being in a clean and clear environment gives you more energy and makes you less lethargic. Start with a room at a time – clutter even means clutter you do not see – if you have a pile of magazines and bills on your coffee table and just pick them up and put them all in a cupboard just because you cannot see it doesn’t mean it's not clutter. Rearrange furnitureIt is said that furniture facing doors will help increase productivity and comfort. Take a look at the furniture positioning in your home or work place and shift it around accordingly. MirrorsMirrors create the illusion of infinity. Put mirrors up in hallways and dead ends. Also in rooms with little light in order to multiply the light. There should be no mirrors opposite or at the side of your bed as they can attract a third party to the relationship. Put The Toilet Seat DownYes ladies we knew there was a deeper meaning to this – ‘money goes down the drain’ if your toilet seat is up. LightingHave adequate lighting in all rooms. Change light bulbs to be more comfortable and use sheers on window to let in more light as opposed to heavy curtains. Bling BlingHand crystals and wind chimes to move energy around your home. ColoursColours help regulate your mood, choose appropriate colours for the function of the room. Red being a fiery colour may not be appropriate for a bedroom as it will make you restless. ElectronicsRemove all electronics from your bedroom as far a possible, if you do have a TV or computer try covering it with a screen. Try using a regular alarm clock as an alarm instead of your mobile phone. CirculateOpen your windows and allow the air to circulate to allow a fresh flow of energy into your home. BeamsAvoid sleeping under beams as this adds pressure to your life. Beams are especially dangerous if they split the bed in half causing separation in relationships. KitchenMake sure that opposite your oven there is no refrigerator, washing machine, washbasin and toilet. Water and fire facing each other can cause an imbalance and family members to not get along. Water featurePlace an indoor water fountain/feature in your home in prominent position to attract whatever you want in your life.
