Stella recommends...We have all heard it over and over again that when you wash your dishes in the dishwasher you save more water and electricity. Some of us however cannot afford this 'luxury' or simply your kitchen might be too small for you to fit it into it, so here are my tips to save planet earth and most of all saving up on your bills...Good Old Way with a New TouchWe all remember our mums or grannies filling up the sink with lukewarm water and then filling up a container with cold water to remove the soap off the dishes.
Well, that's a good way of doing it but this gets better. Stick in the sink plug and don't wait for it to fill up, just start washing the dishes straight away, under running water! That way you rinse out the soap immediately too.
Open - CloseDo not leave the water running all the time, close it while you're scrubbing and open it again when you need to rinse.
Quick,Quick!Imagine the sink filling up as time elapsing on a game. This way you will automatically wash quicker, the more it gets closer to being full and you would only have used one full sink of water and saved yourself the hassle of filling another container with clear water not to think of the money you've saved on the bill. One container might not be much, but just think you'll be saving 50% on the bill you would have got from the washing up!
Let's face it - the dishwasher is a great invention but hey, washing the dishes yourself will only take up 10 minutes of your time and what's best, you're doing a great 10 minute workout to avoid flabby arms
